Customer Guide: Self installation of Dasan H660GM router

First Step to connecting your new router

Before we can begin to self-install your new router, customers will need to disconnect their current router.  There are two types of router on site, both are pictured below. The Fibre optic cable you need to disconnect is housed behind a small cover which can be accessed by following the steps below:

There may be a small screw holding the cover in place.  Remove this to expose the Fibre connector.

On the image above, the connector is blue, but it may not always be blue for every customer. Gently grip the blue connector and pull, the fibre line should just slide out.  Once removed, you can disconnect the power supply and fully remove any other cables you have connected to your router.

Alternative styles of existing router are shown below:

The front of your new router:

The Fibre cable may not be yellow, as pictured, but the connector should be the same.

Very carefully remove the existing fibre cable from your existing router. Fibre optic cables contain glass and can snap if bent at right angles or handled too roughly. The connector for the fibre cable is green and shown in these pictures.

The back of your router:

On one side of the green connector there will be a ridge to allow it to slide into the router itself. The fibre cable can only be slid in one way, so if it feels as though it is not going in, just check the ridge is facing upwards and lined up with router, as below.

Once you have connected the fibre cable, you can push the cable into the clips to secure it.

Now all you need to do is attach the power cable into the black square port labelled 12v and ensure you have pressed the on/off switch to on.

When on, the button is depressed further into the device than when it is switched off.

Useful tips

The length of the power cord may restrict where you choose to place your router, keeping it off the floor and extending the ariel antenna will help to push the Wi-Fi signal as far as possible. Try not to place your router in a cupboard.

Connecting a device via WPS:

WPS allows other devices to connect without a password and can be activated for a short time by pressing the WPS button. The WPS light will blink on the front of the router while this mode is activated.

CAUTION: WLAN is the button next to WPS on the right side of your router, as shown below, and this is used to turn on and off your Wi-Fi Network. For 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz to be enabled, the 2.4/5 light on the front of your router should be blue blinking. If it is solid blue or solid green, then only the 5Ghz is turned on (blue) or 2.4Ghz (green). If there is no light at all then all Wi-Fi is turned off. All you need to do is press the WLAN button again and cycle through the light sequence until you get blue blinking again.

Connecting to Wi-Fi

You need your Wi-Fi SSID and password, which are on the back of your router. Try taking a picture on your phone and keep this handy for setting up your devices.
